Jeremiah 11:18-20 NKJV
Now the Lord gave me knowledge of it, and I know it; for You showed me their doings. But I was like a docile lamb brought to the slaughter; and I did not know that they had devised schemes against me, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.”
But, O Lord of hosts,
You who judge righteously,
Testing the mind and the heart,
Let me see Your vengeance on them,
For to You I have revealed my cause.
Romans 12:19 NKJV
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
Father,
The response of retaliation comes quickly to me.
When criticized, I want to respond defensively.
When slighted or ignored, I want to assert myself.
When treated harshly or unjustly, I want to strike back with bitter words.
I have a “short fuse” and a “sharp tongue,” and in both of these I am guilty of sin.
O Lord, forgive me.
O Lord, by the power of your crucified and risen life, through the Holy Spirit who lives in me, change me.
Help me to forgive as Jesus forgave.
Make me meek as Jesus was meek.
Give me the faith to trust that you avenge all wrong in your way and on your schedule.
I yield myself anew today to your plans for me and your ways of bringing them to pass in my life.
Amen.
Have Thine Own Way, Lord
