Psalm 18:25-32 NKJV
With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; with a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless; with the pure You will show Yourself pure; and with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.  For You will save the humble people but will bring down haughty looks. For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.  For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

Eternal God, powerful and perfect,
By your mercy help us to show mercy. “Teach me to feel another’s woe, to hide the fault I see. The mercy I to others show, that mercy show to me” (Pope).
The world is full of perverse people, Lord, doing only that which is “right in their own eyes” (Judges 21:25). Deliver us from such crookedness in our lives. In our afflictions, stay near to us; be our friend, meet our needs, and restore our joy.
Your perfection – your sovereign completeness – knows no lack. You are perfect in your person and your ways, because you are God and there is no other like you. You are “a sure protection to every simple believing soul. We cannot believe your word to implicitly, nor trust too confidently in you” (Adam Clarke). You are the strength of our soul, and we yield ourselves to you afresh today, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
