Mem Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.

Ish Elohim and I are not very far apart in the role that the Law plays in our lives. It is the definer of our relationship with the LORD, God, the Almighty; the Triune God of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. “Thou shalt have no other Gods before Me.” No Debate! No arguing. We can explore. We can examine. But we must accept. We must be diligent in applying to every aspect of our lives. We have proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are incapable of obedience on our own. But, a really big but, we can obey these dictums because of the love of God, the Father, the sacrifice of God, the Son, and the guidance of God, the Holy Spirit.

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a br anch from his roots shall bear fruit. And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. Look at these words of power and mighty: fear of the LORD, judge with righteousness, decide on equity, kill the wicked, Look at that last sentence, "Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins." Who else does that description fit but our LORD Jesus Christ? No one, but we are called to emulate His example and seek to display righteousness, faithfulness, peace, joy in all that we do. We as His Ambassadors are to be His face to our personal mission field.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble! And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.

What a beautiful plea, for the LORD, God, the Almighty’s Holy Spirit to lead us on level ground. Our calling to prison ministry is anything but level ground. For example, we have been locked out of Southern State Correctional Facility for about 2 years and 4 months as a result of the pandemic with only 2 visits in that span. We know that the men miss us, but there is no way to tell them that we miss them. They are our brothers in Christ; our church.

Please pray for them and us. And the ministry needs your prayers constantly, pandemic or not.

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

I love this passage. Over the year s as I have grown in my faith, there is an immense degree of comfort, knowing that the hand of the LORD, God, the Almighty is over me.

This entire Psalm speaks potently of my relationship with the Godhead, an ever growing, ever deepening relationship as He forms me into an Ambassador for the Kingdom of Heaven in the here and now.

O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. The Spirit of the LORD, the Holy Spirit is the transmitter of the wishes of the LORD, God, the Almighty. All, everything enumerated in this passage is a consequence of a decision of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and enacted by the Spirit.

What a beautiful example of the teamwork that comprises the Trinity, I look out from my office window and see a continuous expanse of field to the rising of the Green Mountains, about 6 miles to the west. Same decisions by the same Trinity and put into reality at the command of the Holy Spirit.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

What a beautiful and moving passage as David realizes the extent of his sin. The focal point is the loss of the relationship with the LORD, God, the Almighty through the departure of the Holy Spirit. You can almost hear the Spirit saying, “I’m not living in a pig sty like this, I’m out of here.”

Does He often take that attitude as my mind wanders through the Slough of Despond and revels in filth and lust? Yes, no doubt about it. I am called to be on my knees in contrition and prayer, not lying to all that I’m really a good little boy.

“But now, hear my speech, O Job, and listen to all my words. Behold, I open my mouth; the tongue in my mouth speaks. My words declare the uprightness of my heart, and what my lips know they speak sincerely. The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Elihu has patiently listened to his elders, well, patiently is stretching the point, see Chapter 32, and now lets it fly. However, look at that last sentence in the quoted passage. Lamedh Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants.

And in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them saviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies.

But after they had rest they did evil again before you, and you abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them. Yet when they turned and cried to you, you heard from heaven, and many times you delivered them according to your mercies. And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.

A most interesting passage which I considered breaking up into several days, but the Holy Spirit has spoken through Nehemiah to condense centuries in a way that makes the grand sweep of the Lord God, the Almighty's plan and love for His people leap out.

See how the rapid resumption of rebellion is soon offset by the offer of the Lord’s Grace and a return to His favor? Time and time again. It should both overwhelm us and drive us to seek restoration. The phrase, “Come Lord Jesus, come should always be on our lips.

And the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly.

Then the Spirit of God clothed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God, ‘Why do you break the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you.’”

Both these passages mention the coming of the Spirit during an assembly of Israelites which strikes me as significant. Mainly that the movement of the Holy Spirit was visible publicly. Then and now! We must expect the Spirit to move in response to our requests to move in a way which demonstrates His participation in our lives.

He is clothed by the US Army.

I’m quite sure that the Holy Spirit clothed Amasai and troops for the same purpose. They took over command and control of the Army of King David and were directed to lead his forces. They were clothed for the purpose.

Morning Psalm 114, Noon Psalm 119:75-82, Evening Psalm 45, If you follow this regimen, you will pray through the Psalms every 47 days or just under 8 times per year.

An alternate Reading Plan is based on 7 chapters/day from 7 sections of the Scriptures. My groupings are: Genesis-Joshua, Judges to Esther, Job to Song of Solomon, Psalms breaking 119 into convenient sets, Isaiah to Malachi, Matthew to Acts, Romans to Revelation. This plan, over a several year period will result in an average reading of the entire Bible in slightly over twice per year. I've been following this plan since 1989 and still find the mixture of Scriptures presented each day to be a delightful way to end my day. The NLB app has a scheduling tool that assists greatly in keeping track of the reading list.

Or set your own reading schedule up in convenient groupings as fits your study habits. But a daily time in the Word of the LORD is an absolute.
