Psalm 38:9-10

March 26, 2013

O Lord, all my longing is before you; my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart throbs; my strength fails me, and the light of my eyes--it also has gone from me.

There is no need for me to attempt to hide my weaknesses and my lack of faith. All is open to You, all is laid out before You in all its squalor. I throw myself on Your mercy.

Psalm 38:6-8

March 25, 2013

I am utterly bowed down and prostrate; all the day I go about mourning. For my sides are filled with burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am feeble and crushed; I groan because of the tumult of my heart.

I am disgusted when I consider my fallen state, there is nothing to admire, nothing but shame. But, Lord, at the same time, I am filled with joy and gratitude as I compare my present state of transformation to what I was. Praise You, my Redeemer.

Psalm 119:8

April 06, 2013

I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!

"I will never leave you nor forsake you." Deut 31:8 My response is to vow to keep Your statutes. They are my guide to life in the Kingdom.

Psalm 119:7

April 05, 2013

I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules.

"shall have learned(KJV)" But praising You is not something that does not happen until the process is completed. No, my heart begins to be transformed into a state of righteousness as the Holy Spirit begins His work in applying Your Word. Being in a state of learning brings about a state of praise.

Psalm 119:5 -6

April 04, 2013

Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.

To keep Your statutes is to live in the Kingdom, to live in the Kingdom is to live a life free of shame and despair, to live without shame and despair is to live a life of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah.

Psalm 119:4

April 03, 2013

You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently.

To be diligent is to be faithful, consistent in studying the Word of God and applying it to my life. It means that I am to seek to glorify God according to His Word in every aspect of my life. According to His Word completely as He directs.

Psalm 119:2-3

April 02, 2013

Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!

It appears to me, Lord, that there are two conditions that must be present in me in order to live in Your blessings. The first is to keep your testimonies/precepts/law/statutes, that keeping being the same as walking in them. the second is to seek this state of oneness with You with my whole heart (entire being). There is intentionality implied in these words--I must be determined to seek and keep.

Psalm 119:1

April 01, 2013

Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD!

To walk in Your Law is to walk in the Kingdom of Heaven for it is the Law that defines the boundaries of the Kingdom. This is the region where peace, righteousness and joy abound in Your Holy Spirit--therein lies blessedness.

The 119th Psalm—a love story.

After many years of daily study, meditation and prayer on the 119th Psalm, I finally realized that the unknown psalmist who wrote this fascinating poem, was passionately in love with the Word of God.

I would like to share some of these meditations with you, the readers of the Fellowship of Ailbe website, in the hopes that you too will find this psalm to be an inspiration for your walk along the King's Highway.

There are 22 installations, each beginning with a meditation on the stanza as a whole, followed by a series of daily individual meditations

These meditations and prayers will begin on Easter Sunday.  Please share them with friends who might be interested.

Psalm 119:73

March 24, 2013

Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies.

Lord, You have given me a ministry to others to encourage and lead them. Give me understanding, compassion, wisdom, and discernment that I might lead them rightly into the path that You have chosen for them. Give me a humble and contrite heart that I may give all the glory to You.

Psalm 38:3-5

March 23, 2013

There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me. My wounds stink and fester because of my foolishness,

I am a totally disgusting sight but I could not see it, even considered myself as a fine example of rectitude in my blindness, until You opened my eyes through Your perfect and holy Law. Now I know how foul I really am, the stench of my good works and the putrid state of my religiosity. Praise You, Lord, for this revelation.

Psalm 38:1-2

March 22, 2013

A Psalm of David, for the memorial offering. O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath! For your arrows have sunk into me, and your hand has come down on me.

Be merciful to me, O, Lord, even in my sin. Rebuke me not in anger, but with compassion and in the discipline that comes of love. I am sick at heart as a result of my sin and disobedience.; Your hand has quicken my soul.
