Romans 8:1-4, 31

July 19, 2012

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. (3) For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, (4) in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.... What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Lord, what a summary of the Good News of the Gospel. You provided a perfect description of life in the Kingdom, we defaced it and ruined its application, You provided a righteous sacrifice to restore Shalom and the perfection of the Law. Then You, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, fulfilled the Law in Your redeemed people so that we may live according to the righteousness, peace and joy of the Kingdom.

Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer. All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.

All the workers of evil, attacking my body to distract me from the work of the Kingdom, depart, you have no part in me, I am the Lord's anointed one, called to His work and You cannot interfere. He will be glorified in my life, in spite of your efforts to the contrary.

Lord, when the devil begins to recite my sins and sets my mind to racing, Your Holy Spirit is there to remind me of Your grace and mercy, cleansing me from all unrighteousness. This indeed is the joy of the Kingdom

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments; according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD--how long? Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?

Lord, lift me up, fill my heart with an overflowing love for You. Let that be the levee that stands between me and the torrent of sin and corruption spewing from the world all around me. Keep me safe and pure for Your sake, for the glory and honor of Your name. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 5:9-10

July 12, 2012
For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.

The most beautiful of all the angels, yet the Father of Lies, clothed in flattery and alluring garb, yet foul and evil within; cast him and all his minions away from me. Let them bear the fruit of their guilt; protect me from tainting and pollution; direct me in Your path.

Hebrews 4:16

July 14, 2012

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Draw near with confidence to the Throne of Grace. What an invitation but like all other invitations, I must accept it to take advantage of it. What good does it do to hold a gift certificate until it expires? Your offer is open until the Day of Judgment, the day when Your Grace will be replaced with Your Judgment of all who did not draw near.

July 13, 2012

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

It is the rejoicing in You that is an exultation of You, that is a covering of protection and favor. As I exult in You and Your love for me, I am shield from all the slings and arrows of an outraged Evil One. Right back to filling my mouth with Your praises arms me with the two-edged sword of Your Word

But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.

It is Your love that makes me whole; Your love that opens the portal into Your house; Your love that instills righteousness into my life; Your love that lays out a straight and clear path before me. Your love, Your love, Your love—the all in all. It is with joy and thanksgiving that I acknowledge You as my Lord and Master.

Psalm 5:4-6

July 10, 2012

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

Lord, give me awareness of any evil that dwells in me, Is there any selfishness? Any greed? Any lust? Any other gods? Any pride, even little wisps? Any conceit? Any sloth? What evidences of evil lie in my soul and must be rooted out? Help me through the power of Your Holy Spirit.

Psalm 5:1-3

July 09, 2012

To the choirmaster: the flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.

Hear me, my Lord, as I cry out now, repenting of the many, many lapses of attention, ignoring You until I need You. This is wicked, I treat You as a cafeteria of blessings and helps when I recognize that I have a problem and am indifferent to your rich presence and oblivious to You when I do not. This is wicked. This is evidence of sin that still has a stronghold in my heart. I join with David in crying, “Create in me a clean heart, O, Lord and do not withhold Your Spirit from me.”
