Psalm 143:11-12

May 09, 2012

For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble! And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.

I know that some of my foes are the family of our ward and that they wish us harm. But the concerning foes are those more subtle and sly minions of the Evil One who tempt and blandish sin that is wrapped in glitter, drenched with perfume to hide the stench and decay, whose end is loss of communion with You. Save me from such as these that I remain constant in Your grace.

Psalm 143:7-10

May 08, 2012

Psalm 143:7-10

Answer me quickly, O LORD! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD! I have fled to you for refuge! Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!

Lord, my spirit does fail, I am like a ship without a rudder as I struggle to know how to wrap up this guardianship. I know that You love me and stand between me and my foes but I am not sure I am hearing You. Lord, I know that Your good spirit is attempting to lead me, but I am not hearing. Has my hearing failed because of sin in my life? Am I ignoring that small, quiet voice in the back of my mind? Help me, Lord.

Psalm143:3-6

May 07, 2012

For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead. Therefore my spirit faints within me; my heart within me is appalled. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah

The Lord God Almighty, the One who was and is and is to come. I need Your strength in these times of turmoil. Help me, Lord, guide me, bring me through the waters. You are my only sure rock, the only foundation that never fails. Let me not waver in the face of Your steadfast love.

May 06, 2012

I entreat your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.

Lord, it is today that I must rely on Your promises. No different than any other day, but that I must realize and live by the promises of today, not yesterday and not tomorrow. I must live in the Kingdom promises for today and today alone. Teach me, Lord.

Psalm 143:1-2

May 05, 2012

A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness! Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous before you.

Lord, I need guidance as I close out the affairs of the guardianship. Give me an understanding of Your righteousness in the various issues and a willingness to act according to Your will and direction.

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

Lord, my morning readings in Ps 35, 1 Sam 26, Dan 7, Luke 4, 2 Thess. 3 and Ps 143 appear to be preparing me for a time of trouble with the promise that You will prevail and protect Your servant. Appropriate as this guardianship draws to a close, knowing that the family is chaffing at the bit to wreak their fury against us, yet You are faithful, You will guard us against the Evil One. Let us go forth in faith and with rejoicing that You are the Faithful One

Psalm 142:5-7

May 03, 2012

I cry to you, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me! Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me.

Here is the promise, “You will deal bountifully with me.” I must focus on that promise and not let all the attacks of my persecutors distract me from the path You have set before me. You know that Satan is attacking on several fronts, determined to sway me from the tasks You have set before me. But You are my refuge, my portion is the Kingdom of God., You do and will continue to deliver me from those who despise me and would seek to dishonor Your name through me. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 142:1-4

May 02, 2012

A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer. With my voice I cry out to the LORD; with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD. I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him. When my spirit faints within me, you know my way! In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul.

Lord, as this guardianship comes to an end, there are many traps laid out to trip us up by those who seek to punish us for caring for MW. We have been deserted by many whom we trusted, we surely are being given a lesson in turning to You and to Your alone. Protect your children, Lord, guide us in the way we should go.

Acts 16:19-25

May 01, 2012

But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. ... And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,

Yes, Lord, as we face the trials of the guardianship, and the destruction of a marriage within our family, it feels as if crowds of unbelievers are assaulting us and tearing at our joy in you. Help us to keep praying and singing hymns to You, our Lord and Master.

But my eyes are toward you, O GOD, my Lord; in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless! Keep me from the trap that they have laid for me and from the snares of evildoers! Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely.

This blessing has fallen to me, that I have kept your precepts.

It is a blessing, my Lord, to keep Your precepts; not through my own strength but through Yours and by the power and infilling of the Holy Spirit. April 28, 2012

Yet my prayer is continually against their evil deeds. When their judges are thrown over the cliff, then they shall hear my words, for they are pleasant. As when one plows and breaks up the earth, so shall our bones be scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

Lord, tomorrow Betty and I go before a judge of the realm of man, seeking justice and the implementation of Your Word. Go before us! Send Your angels to be around us! Let us hear the guidance of the Holy Spirit and be obedient to that leading as we stand in that courtroom. Bless and protect Your servants, fill us with Your peace.
