Psalm 119:2-3

Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!

A good summary of the life of a disciple, seeking You with a whole heart, obeying You in all things, and applying Your teachings to every aspect of life.

Psalm 1:6

[F]or the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Praise You, my Lord and my Master, for You do know that Way and You do reveal that Way to Your people. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead me in the Way and into all truth.

Psalm 2:1-3

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us."

Why is it, Lord, that the world is in complete rebellion against You? Why do all deliberately defy You? So often it is the defiance of a small child who disobeys a parent solely for the sake of defiance; an act of self-will; a shouting of "I will be master of my fate." Unwilling to accept Your righteousness; persisting in the tattered, soiled, putrid rags of self-determination; lost and destitute, yet trumpeting the Pyhrric victories of a self-destructive life.

Psalm 2:4-6

He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then He will speak to them in His wrath, and terrify them in His fury, saying, "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill."

How terrifying Your fury must be as You watch these puny creatures rant and rave against You. And how terrifying to me as I realize that I have defied the LORD, God Almighty. I am not worthy! Have mercy on me, a sinner. for Your King reigns.

Psalm 119:133

Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

Let no iniquity gain dominion over me. Not always, Lord, an overtly sinful behavior but very frequently a defect of personality that leads me to be insensitive to to others, to their needs and to their points of pain and hurt; to their inner desires and dislikes. Transform me, Lord, tune my ear to other's needs and personalities, and train me in the way I should go.

Psalm 2:7-9

I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, "You are My Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

You are on the Throne at the right hand of the Almighty; all things have been put under Your authority; there is no event, nothing exists or moves without Your direction.

The Day is coming, it is very near, when all that are in rebellion against You will be totally defeated and subjected to Your rule. Then, joy shall break out like the morning dawn. Shalom will be the order of the Day. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 2:10-11

Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Lord, on the eve of a election here, it is difficult to remain steadfast and keep Your kingdom first in my priorities. I am warned to be wise and to serve You with fear and trembling; to serve only You with fear and trembling.

Psalm 2:12

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

Lord, on this particular day, the first day after my mother joined You in glory, I find myself remembering and dwelling on the many ways in which she found refuge in You, treasuring You, being guided by Your Holy Spirit and seeking Your way, teaching her children and grandchildren to worship You with heart, soul, mind and strength, a faithful and loving wife; now a member of that great cloud of witnesses who have gone before. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 3:1-2 A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.

O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; (2) many are saying of my soul, there is no salvation for him in God. Selah

Lord, who and what are my enemies? Not persons but emotions and affections: pride, greed, selfishness, anger, lust, stubbornness, the list goes on and the detailed listing is not that important. I am an example of Original Sin. These affections and emotions all cry out to me that they are unconquerable, that they will always triumph over Your goodness and mercy, they thumb the nose at You.

Psalm 3:3-6

But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the LORD, and He answered me from His holy hill. Selah I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.

Lord, to know that You are before me and behind, to my right hand and my left, over me and below, physically and spiritually; that is the assurance of joy and peace everlasting. I can face the future without qualm or trepidation, knowing that You are over all; that You sit at the right hand of the Almighty, and are in control of all circumstances. That is the Peace that passes all understanding. Praise You, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm Psalms 3:7

Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For You strike all my enemies on the cheek; You break the teeth of the wicked.

Lord, not only are You my shield and my bulwark but You are my defense and my offense. It is You who takes up the cudgel against those who wish me harm for Your sake. I do not need to be afraid or concerned or seek the weapons of man. I am defended by the mighty arm of the LORD, God Almighty.

Psalm 119:137-138

Righteous are you, O LORD, and right are your rules. You have appointed your testimonies in righteousness and in all faithfulness.

Yes, Lord, it is those righteous rules that define life in the Kingdom, that as they are absorbed into my very being, transform me from a creature of sin to a reflection of Your glory. "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:17-18) Let the transformation continue.
