Doorways to Prayer: God's Righteousness

Because He is righteous, we can pray.

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. Romans 3:21-22.

Many argue that Jesus is not the Son of God and they maintain that God could not have lived on the earth. As Christians, we not only believe that God could do such a thing, we also believe that He did just that. But for the sake of argument, let us accept the non-believer’s premise.

Were non-believers correct, our world would be one bereft of light. Without this merciful and gracious act of God in sending His Son, we would be left to our own devices to discover what is right.

Yet as we look to the world around us, the imperfection of man is readily apparent – broken marriages, decaying communities, tyrannical governments, and corrupt businesses. Any search for total righteousness is destined for futility outside of Jesus Christ.

In the Christian faith, the Son of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, revealed to the world what a righteous life looks like. This life was lived out in the flesh and recorded in the Gospels.

Thus, the Christian faith has a tremendous advantage over the other religions of the world. The revival that we seek is founded upon a God who is righteous and this righteous God lived and dwelt among us.
