1 John 5:1-5

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obeyhis commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keephis commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

This is a very interesting passage for, there are times, when I wonder if I really love God? Am I still, deep down inside, that little boy who just wants to please his parents? NO! John tells me, one of the proofs is that I find great pleasure in living according to His Word and disappointment when I fail. There is an upwelling of gratitude for the grace, mercy, and love that has been shown to me, that drives me to seek to live in accordance with His Word. I want to keep them. They are a joy, not a burden. I am filled with a realization of a life of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Hallelujah.
