Moses said, "Please show me your glory." And he said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The LORD.' And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live." And the LORD said, "Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen."

This is a color-packed passage. The glory of the LORD. The goodness of the LORD. The name of the LORD. The grace of the LORD. The mercy of the LORD. Each requires a deeper exploration.

However, one stands out and is worthy of note at this point. That is the concern of the LORD for the safety and protection of His people. He knows that Moses could not withstand full exposure to His Glory, it would instantly kill him. He knows that I cannot either. I wonder if that is not, at least part of the reason, why that I see as through a glass dimly? 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
