Mark 13:9-11

“But be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them. And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations. And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

I've never been beaten or called to stand before councils, governors, or kings for the Lord's sake. But there have been many times where I have been called upon to take a stand for my faith. Might be neighbors, or family, or friends, or strangers, or co-workers, or bosses, or … an endless list. Have I often been filled with anxiety about the supposed consequences of my response? Yes! Have I remembered to call upon the Holy Spirit for guidance as I prepared and/or as I responded? Sometimes! Has this been a better outcome? Always! These are times of peace as I am led to witness to the great gift of salvation by faith. Now if I will learn that lesson!
