Realizing the presence, promise, and power of the Kingdom of God.
Voices Together

Acts 9:31

So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.

This was not revival, this was the advancement of the Kingdom of Heaven in accordance with the order laid out by Jesus in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, andto the end of the earth.” I have always read the latter phrase as indicating the spread of the Gospel into all the regions of the earth, but the Greek word, 'eschatos' also carries the sense of time. We are directed to continue faithfully in the task until He comes again.

To be in the comfort of the Holy Spirit also implies that we are in communion with the Spirit. Is our lack of communion with the Spirit, our lack of unity in the Body (Eph 4), inhibiting the advancement of the Kingdom in western Church today?

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 76

Mid-day: 119:41-48

Evening: Psalm 2
