Voices Together

Psalm 119:156

Great is your mercy, O LORD; give me life according to your rules.

Why do I kick against the Rules?

They are not onerous, but are right and generous, all demonstrating Your dictum to love You with all my heart, mind, soul and strength and my neighbor as myself with the promise of a life characterized by righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

How can anyone find that offensive? Why is mercy necessary to bring me into that life? Only my stubbornness and refusal to recognize that I am not a god.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Mid-day: 119:25-32

Evening: Psalm 58
