Ephesians 6:21-24

But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you; whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.

Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus everyChrist in sincerity. Amen.

Keeping the communities in touch with each other in Paul's day. No instant messaging. And it called for major sacrifice, possibly literal, on the messagner's part. It involed delibriate commitment for Tchicus to travel from Somewhere, Asia Minor to Ephesisus. Might be dangerous, very dangerous. That is a measure of the importance of staying in touch. It was important enough the Tichicus was willing to risk his life.

When was the last time that a letter went out from the saints gathered to the name of Jesus Christ in Ludlow, Vt. to the saints of Podunk, Vt? Too much trouble to type in and hit return? Besides not everyone there is a Baptist. I know, I do my weekly grocery shopping there and let me tell you about some of the stories I hear.

Do we need a new lesson in major and minors? Here we are in the middle of Advent and we cannot find a way to celebrate the birth of our Savior; even cannot figure out how to do it and stay 6' apart on the town green?
