Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
V3 brings back memories of my childhood, raised in a river town on the Mississippi, festooned with tree covered islands and river banks for miles. Hard woods, soft woods, underbrush, all lush and generally able to thrive in the spring floods. Oh, the fresh moral mushrooms in the spring, a bitter but crisp crab apple, several varieties of nuts in their time.
A very appropriate picture of life lived in the shelter of the Word of God. We are nourished by the Word, refreshed by the Holy Spirit, and encouraged by the fellowship of the Saints.
