O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth Psalms 8:1-2

To the Chief Musician. On the Instrument of Gath. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

A couple of points jump out at me as I slowly let these two sentences creep into my soul. 1) The first sentence places the Name of the LORD, God, the Almighty in His proper place, a Name that is above all other names. There is no other name that supersedes the Name. And we take that Name and use it as a curse; as a casual interjection; OMG ranks alongside of Ah, shucks as having no stature, no significance, when it should invoke the deepest sense of Awe. 2) All it takes is the infantile mewing of babes and nursing infants to silence those who would avenge the LORD. Scary! I will hang my head in shame as I stand before the Great White Throne and acknowledge the times I have used the Name in vain.
