The pangs of death surrounded me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
Can you hear the aha in David's voice? Yesterday's “I will call” becomes today's “I have called.” “And my cry came before before Him, even to His ears.” David's cry's became God's cry. The LORD, God, the Almighty took possession of David's problem, He said to David, in effect, “relax, I've got your back.” This is an important point that ownership of the problem and responsibility for the resolution was transferred from a mortal to the Supreme Immortal. But the fulcrum was David's willingness to call for help.
How often has my pride in my own abilities prevented me from going to the LORD and requesting His assistance? Isn't an attitude of I can take care of this, an insult to my LORD.
