A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Flip back to yesterday’s Voices Together. That segment of the 112th and this are the focus upon the attitude of the one who follows the LORD in all his life. The Psalmist is examining all the factors which evidence the Hand of the LORD, God, the Almighty upon a faithful individual and finds significant reshaping of a human life. Look at some of those simple phrases, “he will guide his affairs with discretion.” The word that strikes my eye is ‘discretion,’ How often does the urge for a juicy tidbit of gossip seeks to worm its way into my conversation. No, no, a thousand time no. This is not discretion.
