But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
This verse illustrates the totality that is the sense of the string of words that I have been looking at. That string, faith/believe/trust/commit/obey, has a common characteristic in that no member of the string has any sense of partiality about it. They are all either/or. There is no “I sorta have faith/believe/trust/commit/obey.” For all, it is either I do or I don't!
I was born as a citizen of the USA and bad behavior will not get me thrown out of that realm. I have been reborn as a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven and bad behavior will not get me thrown out. However, disobedience of the laws of either jurisdiction will lead to loss of privileges and restrictions on my access to the benefits associated with my citizenship.
