Voices Together

John 16:25-28

I have said these things to you in figures of  speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father. In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”

There is a weaker example for many of us when we realize that a future in-law child loves one of our children. Suddenly we find our hearts being strangely warmed towards this newcomer who loves my son or daughter. The Father loves me because I love and believe/trust/commit/obey/have faith in His Son, His one and only Son.

We were heartbroken when a daughter-in-law announced that she no longer loved our son and was divorcing him. Imagine the Father's heart when we break our covenantal relationship by disobeying the Son.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 86

Mid-day: 119:65-72

Evening: Psalm 12
