But the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and he spoke with me and said to me, “Go, shut yourself within your house. And you, O son of man, behold, cords will be placed upon you, and you shall be bound with them, so that you cannot go out among the people. And I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be mute and unable to reprove them, for they are a rebellious house.

But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’ He who will hear, let him hear; and he who will refuse to hear, let him refuse, for they are a rebellious house.

In some ways, a very perplexing passage, for it indicates to me that I should refuse to speak to warn unless specifically sent by the Spirit. But I know that I can be a very reluctant individual. How will I know if You are speaking and directing me?

A good word for today! By and large, many of the self-labeled Christian churches of today refuse to hear the Word of the LORD. But we are called to speak the Word of the LORD in truth, calling those assembled in the Name of the LORD Jesus the Christ in His Name alone and to worship in that Name which is above all other Names.

I will recount the steadfast love of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love. For he said, “Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely.” And he became their Savior.

Sorry that I missed yesterday’s Voices Together. I changed insulin management systems Monday and the first 24 hours did not go well. However, praise the LORD, all has settled down. A good nights sleep is a precious gift from our LORD.

Early this morning, in that precious time between sound asleep and wide a wake, a time frequently of meditation regarding the LORD’s work in my life; I was musing on that peculiar relationship called fatherhood. Not only my relationship with my children and grandchildren, but with the men and women of the prison system. And the LORD, God, the Almighty’s relationship with His creation.

I was thinking about the time 70 +/- years ago that I was very insolent to my mother one evening when my father had to work late. He, normally the gentlest, kindest man I have ever known was in a rage. He, a man whose mother died when he was 4, whose beloved stepmother died when he was about 12, to be replaced by a haridan who got him expelled from his father’s home a couple years later; a man who knew the true value of wife and mother had a son who did not. He loved me so much he could not allow that sin to exist in me. To the best of my recollection, it worked. He was teaching as the LORD, God, the Father taught him. Using different tools, but administered through love.

Their offspring shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the LORD has blessed.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.

Such a beautiful chapter, I didn’t know where to cut it off and begin to start commenting. I have concluded it is a call for us, the People of the LORD to work together with the Holy Spirit to advance the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Read it slowly, let the precious Words soak into your flesh and transform your life.

So they shall fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the LORD drives. “And a Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,” declares the LORD. “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children's offspring,” says the LORD, “from this time forth and forevermore.”

What a promise: the permanence of the residency of the Holy Spirit in each one of the LORD’s people and their descendants “from this time forth and forevermore.” To know, to be assured of that guidance forevermore, what a treasure, what a cause for sleeping the sleep of the just.

Nun Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules. I am severely afflicted; give me life, O LORD, according to your word! Accept my freewill offerings of praise, O LORD, and teach me your rules. I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law. The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts. Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are t he joy of my heart. I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.

I suspect that when Ish Elohim finally meet at the foot of the Great White Throne, it will be a meeting great joy, second only to our being at the foot of the Throne, in the presence of the LORD, God, the Almighty.

But that presumes several conditions being met that begin with our relationship with the Godhead. Another is our awareness of each other. And the first trumps the latter. I suspect that Ish Elohim and I will nod and agree to meet about an aeon of aeons later, if ever. Sometime after his meeting with King David. Think about it, how often in a family reunion that someone makes a remark that they are looking forward to seeing Aunt Sally Mae and Uncle Butch.

Wrong! We are going to be so overwhelmed to be in the Presence that all else will pale into total insignificance for several eternities.

“But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen! Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him ; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.

Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it: “I am the LORD; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.

I find elements of all three members of the Trinity in this passage. Especially as each contributes to the a definition of Man. For example, Man is a seeker after justice, by and large but not all men are included. Man is a goal oriented creature; He is considerate of others less blessed than himself.

Dig your way through this passage---I believe you will find the process rewarding to identify how many characteristics of the Godhead are reflected in its most precious creation.

To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him? An idol! A craftsman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and casts for it silver chains. He who is too impoverished for an offering chooses wood that will not rot; he seeks out a skillful craftsman to set up an idol that will not move.

Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in; who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.

To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.

Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

I started to write on one short sentence early in this passage, “Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel?” But I can’t! This is a section that begs, no must be considered as a unit. Read it and reread it, each time applying this question to your study. Who is this LORD of Lords? Why must He be honored as such?

Read and Reread until the answer jumps out. Of course, He is the LORD, God, the Almighty. The answer is just that! Then read it one time and join me in the ear to ear smile as we cry out together, “Of course.”

This plan, over a several year period will result in an average reading of the entire Bible in slightly over twice per year. I've been following this plan since 1989 and still find the mixture of Scriptures presented each day to be a delightful way to end my day. The NLB app has a scheduling tool that assists greatly in keeping track of the reading list.

Or set your own reading schedule up in convenient groupings as fits your study habits. But a daily time in the Word of the LORD is an absolute.

For the palace is forsaken, the populous city deserted; the hill and the watchtower will become dens forever, a joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks; until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest. Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field. And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

We will never know, will not have the slightest hint that the time of the LORD has come. But the trumpet will sound, we, the chosen ones, will be transported into the new Kingdom, a fruitful field.

If you listen to the world news tonight, open your ears and weep; then cry out in exultation for the Spirit is coming. Look at those last two sentences. Read them again and again, let them soak into your very being. The Holy Spirit is about to be poured out upon us. Praise the Name of the LORD, God, the Almighty.
