Psalm 119:97

June 24, 2013

Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

It is my dedication, it is my guide, it is my docent, it is my shield and buckler, it is my sword, it is my light, it is my wisdom, it is my total source of all I need for life in the Kingdom of God.

Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.

I recognized yesterday morning that I was beginning my daily readings with a sense of eager anticipation. What where You going to reveal to me as I read? I think that it was that sense of joy at beginning my day with an immersion in the Word of the Lord for that was something that I dwelt on throughout the day. And it was present this morning. To open the day, even before the sun rises, to wash the mind and soul clean of the accumulation of detritus and to equip oneself with the Armor of God is a blessing that all His children should take advantage of.

Psalm 119:155

June 23, 2013

Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes.

Lord, as I watch my young friend deal with his anger, disappointments and challenges, I see a lack of turning to You. It is just the opposite, a turning to his escape mechanisms, the electronic games, the fantasy games and stories. Where is the seeking Your face? Where is the desire to seek You? Help him, help me.

Psalm 28:12-14

June 22, 2013

Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers, consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.

A call to become so immersed in all the manifestations of the Lord that they will flow from our lips and be inherent in our speech at all times. Do I see the King triumphant on His throne? Do I see the Church as the redeemed Bride of Christ? Do I see the face of my Lord in every down and out beggar? In every inmate? Do I address these manifestations and minister to them as to my Lord?

Help me and guide me, Holy Spirit.

We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple. (10) As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. (11) Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!

Your love for Your Church, Your people is steadfast throughout the years and all the nations; it is evident to all, across time and space. Let Your people rejoice, shout to all within earshot, "Our God is a mighty God, it is an awesome God we serve."

Psalm 48:8

June 20, 2013

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah

Lord, as I prayed yesterday, that Your Kingdom would be established within the confines of DoC, I continue that prayer; that revival would break out in Springfield and Windsor prisons, that this wildfire would spread uncontrollable by the forces of the Evil One into the furthest reaches of the department and from there throughout the state. I pray that this revival would result in transformed lives as the men are released back into society and would be the spark that lights revival in the culture of Vermont. An awesome display of the power of Your Glory.

Psalm 48:4-7

June 19, 2013

For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight. Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor. By the east wind you shattered the ships of Tarshish.

Lord. my prayer this morning is that Your power would be so displayed within Springfield and Windsor prisons that DoC would be shaken to the very top echelons of power. I pray that all will acknowledge that it is an awesome God that the men serve; that all will see the transforming power of Your love, grace and mercy.

Psalm 48:1-3

June 18, 2013

A Song. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King. Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.

Lord, I do need a renewed vision of the ministry in Springfield and Windsor. Where are we to teach and minister, how and what? Let us see clearly, all of us, Betty & I, Scott & Mona, Bill, where You are leading us and give us direction, strength and willingness to go there.

Hebrews 12:28-29

June 17, 2013

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, (29) for our God is a consuming fire.

Our God is a consuming fire, my God is a consuming fire. Fire cleanses and purifies. So does my LORD and the result is a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, In response, I must offer sacrifice and praise that is acceptable to the LORD God Almighty. The praise and worship must be filled with reverence and awe, I worship a God who is a consuming fire, what is unacceptable to Him will perish in the flames.

Evening: Psalm 20

Voices Together is available as an annual daily devotional and can be purchased at the Fellowship Of Ailbe bookstore.

I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your commandment is exceedingly broad.

Man's ability to control the world that he views: his circumstances, his environment and other men is limited by his finitude; God's worldview extends beyond the limits of time and space. It is complete, consistent, comprehensive and coherent.

I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts.

If I am truly seeking Your precepts, I will be filled with the joy of the Kingdom; if there is not within me a burning desire to know You, then I have missed the mark, I am relying on my own strength.

The wicked lie in wait to destroy me, but I consider your testimonies.

See the connection here, John? The protection of the Hand of God is upon those who consider (pay attention to) His testimonies, to His directions for living a holy life. And I can do that through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, a great and precious gift from my Lord and Savior.

If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

Your law is a mighty bulwark between me and the attacks of the Evil One. These attacks are intended to separate me from communion with You, but You use them, through the power of your Word to turn them to instruments of blessing and growth.

I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.

This is the John 17:3 process, to know You is to have eternal life and the knowing comes through know (comprehending and applying) Your precepts.
