Psalm 30:4-7

December 27, 2012

Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I shall never be moved." By your favor, O LORD, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed.

Yes, Lord, there are many times when I need correction and redirection. You in Your mercy and love, send that to me in the form of trials to anneal my faith in You. Help me to recognize Your hand and praise you for the love displayed in the chastening.

Psalm 30:1-3

December 26, 2012

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple. I will extol you, O LORD, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. O LORD, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

Lord, You have set me in a wide and spacious place, a land flowing with milk and honey for like the children of Israel You have brought me across the Jordan into the Promised Land. The land of the Kingdom of Heaven, a land of righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Praise You, my Lord, my Master, my brother.

Hebrews 12:3-11

December 25, 2012

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Lord, how do I recognize the difference between discipline and the normal vicissitudes of life? Lead me to an understanding today.

Lord, I think I am beginning to understand that the trials are those challenges that flow through life, some major and very serious, but many just the everyday ins and outs of life. You use each of these to instruct me into a life of faith and trust in You.

The world watches my response so that a major part of my testimony is that transformation into one who relies on You in all circumstances. Help me. Lord, to maintain that witness.

December 24, 2012

The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever. May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

O, Lord, there is no other source of strength and peace except through You. It comes as a flood to those who seek your face. Thank You for the flood that covered our young friend yesterday, may she continue to soak in it and enjoy the healing of her soul. Praise You, Lord.

Psalm 119:136

December 23, 2012

My eyes shed streams of tears, because people do not keep your law.

Streams of tears, Lord, because Your people do not keep Your law! How can those who name that Name that is above all other names, deliberately and intentionally defy You? How can I? And why do I? It is because self is not dead, I am not nearly as submitted to You as I claim publicly to be. I repent, Lord, I repent, heal me and make Your face shine upon me that I may be saved. Restore me to the joy of Your salvation; that joy that comes through complete obedience to Your Word. "I am Yours, O Lord, I have heard Your voice and it told Your love for me."

Psalm 29:3-9

December 22, 2012

The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, "Glory!"

The Voice of the Lord shattered my rocky heart and replaced it with a heart of flesh. He took a heart of unyielding stone and replaced it with a heart that is inscribable, that the Law of God could be written upon and He is writing His Word there.

A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.

"You shall not take my name in vain," Lord, that my every deed and word glorifies You name, that precious name that will cause every knee to bow in acknowledgment of Your Lordship. But I cannot wait for that glorious day, my time is now, my life must be one spent in honoring You.

O for the glorious day when Your Kingdom comes, Your will is done on earth as it is in Heaven. When the Kingdom will be fully established and all will live in obedience to Your Word. When there is no more sorrow, no more grief, when the righteousness, peace and joy of the Kingdom will be the fabric of all lives. Come, Lord Jesus, come.

December 19, 2012

The LORD is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.

You are my strength, it is not the wisdom of the world, the power of protest, the might of the weapons of war, it is You, the LORD God Almighty. The One who was and is and is to come. The Everlasting One, the Alpha and Omega, the One who speaks and it is. You are my shepherd, my Lord and my Master.

Psalm 28:3-6-7

December 18, 2012

Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts. Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds; give to them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward. Because they do not regard the works of the LORD or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and build them up no more.

Lord, I am surrounded by those who plot evil, an evil, by individuals who cover their deeds and tracks with a gift wrapping of Christianese, who lie and cheat, break promises and divert resources. Help me to discern their evil intent and to see through their empty promises. Give me wisdom to direct them to You and away from the God of Mammon.

Of David. To you, O LORD, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. (2) Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.

Lord, my Rock. The One who is not silent to me, the One who answers, the One who never leaves me nor forsakes me, the One who hears my cries for help. Praise You, my Lord, my Deliverer.

December 16, 2012

It is time for the LORD to act, for your law has been broken.

How long will You withhold Your hand as the nations conspire to break Your law? How far must they fall into sin and perdition before You cry, "Enough!"? Moloch reigns in this land and in many others; how long, Lord, how long? Come quickly, Lord Jesus, come.
