Psalm 20:1-4

October 17, 2012

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans!

Lord, You know that I am going through an unproductive period, a period of lassitude that is leaving many things undone. I needed stirred up, rejuvenated and re-energized. Help me, Lord, to guard my time and apply it to Your work, to those vineyards where You have set me to labor. Give me discernment with regard to the allocation of my time and efforts, remove this spirit of ennui and discouragement. Praise You, my Lord, let Your praises be ever in my mouth and a two-edged sword in my hands.

Matthew 21:22

October 16, 2012

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive if you have faith.

Proverbs 28:9 If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

There are two requirements here for me and both tightly interwoven--faith and obedience. The two sides of the same coin. In fact so much the same coin that one defines the other. If my faith is as a grain of mustard, my obedience will be one of potential; as my faith grows, my obedience will begin to bear fruit. Lord, help me in my unbelief.

Hebrews 4:14-16

October 15, 2012

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

You know, Lord, that I am facing a very difficult time financially, some the results of circumstances but many as the result of poor decisions on my part. I come to You for wisdom, for guidance, for the strength to confess my errors and accept the consequences, for humility and for the strength to continue. Give me sound judgment and the ability to see clearly. In all things, may I glorify and praise You.

Psalm 119:49

October 14, 2012

Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.

Ah, Lord, I do not need to fear that You forget and will not remember, but that I will. For this, I am thankful of the many reminders, the world and creation full of reminders of our grace and mercy. All creation speaks of You. cries out Your Name, declares Your mercies and praises Your love and grace.

Psalm 19:14

October 13, 2012

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

You are my rock and my redeemer, it is right and fitting that all my words, all the affections of my heart should acknowledge that wonderful fact. My life must pour out praise to You and to Your great grace and mercy. Nothing may take precedence over this, it must be the center of my life.

Psalm 19:12-13

October 12, 2012

Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.

Where do I overstep bounds. Lord? Where do I presume to be as You? Reveal these grievous sins to me, cut them out, and cauterize the wounds. I have held on to them so long, so tightly that I cannot recognize them as sin but You will refine and heal me.

Psalm 19:7-11

October 11, 2012

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

2 Timothy 3-16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

The Law of the Lord is perfect--it is complete--it provides the warning sign, danger ahead and a well done, good and faithful servant when rewarding an obedient servant. It is without equal in completeness or comprehensiveness; it is the necessary and sufficient guide for all of life.

Psalm 19:1-6

October 10, 2012

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Romans 1:19-20 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Your works declare You--there is no one who cannot see the evidence of Your glory even though many deny what is before their eyes. Your words pour out, there are none who cannot hear the magnificent hymn of praise continuously raised to You by all creation. We are with excuse and without hope except through You. All is starkly visible, blazing with Your glory, thundering with Your harmonies. Praise You, the Almighty One.

Hebrews 1:3

October 09, 2012

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Lord, so complete. You came to earth as a man, radiating the glory of God and demonstrating the exact nature of the LORD to be seen by all. You then provided the means of restoration of the creation to its original state of perfection and sat down at the right hand of the Almighty, from where You administrate all things until the restoration of Your people is complete. O, the beauty of your plan, the glory of Your wisdom, praise You, my Lord and Savior.

Romans 1:21

October 08, 2012

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Lord, man piles law upon law, rule upon rule, regulation upon regulation, bureaucrat upon bureaucrat, assimilating a huge, tottering, inefficient and ineffective structure to replace Your Law. The result of futile thinking by darkened hearts. All because we, sinful man, have self-promoted ourselves, elevated ourselves and named us gods. Millions upon millions of little gods, fighting and feuding among themselves for supremacy.

Yet all along, ever present and obvious to those who would perceive, are Your divine attributes, Your love, mercy and grace displayed for all and Your Law laid out to guide our lives. A simple step, to cry, "Lord, I believe, help me in my unbelief" and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
