Psalm 85:10-13

July 23, 2011

Psalm 85:10-13

Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down from the sky. Yes, the LORD will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him and make his footsteps a way.

Colossians 1:19-20 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, (20) and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Amen, Lord, what can I add except a plea that this fullness, this meeting of love, faithfulness, righteousness, and peace that is You will flow out of me to all who meet me. A plea that it will be as evident as Your glory was in the face of Moses when he came off Your mountain.

Psalm 85:8-9

July 22, 2011

Psalm 85:8-9

Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

Lord, I was praying this morning in the 119th Psalm for direction and revelation of Your will in a Kingdom matter; and then I come to this passage. Lord, let me hear what You will speak and give me the will to obey. Guide me, help me for in my heart, I do not want to do what I am hearing, I am looking for reasons to believe that it is not from You.

Psalm 85:4-7

July 21, 2011

Psalm 85:4-7

Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us! Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.

How can we expect restoration, Lord, as we continue to follow the ways of the world? We have not repented, we have not humbled ourselves and confessed that we have sinned against you, we have not rejected the lures and blandishments. We must repent!

Psalm 85:1-3

July 20, 2011

Psalm 85:1-3

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. LORD, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin. Selah You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger.

Lord, once again, Your Church needs to repent and seek restoration. We have turned to the ways of the world around us, we have forsaken Your word and are not obedient to Your Law. How can we expect Your favor? Bring us to repentance, Lord, restore Your people, let Your face shine that we might be saved. Let us once again be the light that shines out of darkness.

2 Corinthians 4:1-15

Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart.  But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.  And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.  In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.  For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.  For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. (8) We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;  persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.  For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.  Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.  For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

Lord, what a marvelous and complete summary of our ministry.

Psalm84:8-12

July 18, 2011

Psalm84:8-12

O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed! For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!

As I asked earlier this morning for Your blessing on Betty and I as we travel and work together, I continue to plead that You will keep us in the palm of Your hand, nurturing us, drawing us closer to You and to each other, guiding us, opening our eyes to the opportunities to advance Your Kingdom and leading us to glorify You in all things. Praise You, Lord.

Psalm 119:79

July 10, 2011

Psalm 119:79

Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies.

Lord, use me to teach others to love Your Law and to seek to bring it into their lives as a force for good. Help me to lead others into the understanding that Your Law is a gift to Your people for them to know what is good and righteous and holy; that obedience to your Law in not onerous but that Your burden is light and Your yoke is easy.

Psalm 83:1-4

July 09, 2011

Psalm 83:1-4

A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!"

Lord, the forces that the Evil One has assembled to assault Your Church, are frightening except that we know that the forces that protect us are far more powerful. Help us to maintain an attitude of faith, trusting in Your armor as we challenge the dominance of the Lie.

Revelation 6:9-17

July 08, 2011

Revelation 6:9-17

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. They cried out with a loud voice, "O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been. When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"

Lord, the persecution of the church in this country is not by kings and rulers but by philosophies and false priorities. The Evil One has found that by appealing to our lust to be like the cultures around us, he has said, and we believe him, that we can pick and chose those parts of Your word that we will follow and reject those that are uncomfortable. He has said, and we believe him, that we can live the life we chose for You are a God of love and forgive all our sins; therefore we do not have to worry for our place in heaven is reserved for us. And on and on and on, he has said, and we believe—because we want to believe.

Help Your people, restore Your church, bring revival.

Psalm 82:5-8

July 07, 2011

Psalm 82:5-8

They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. I said, "You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince." Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!

Lord, as I go to teach a group of individuals who are apparently unwilling to put great effort into gaining an understanding, help all of us to find the consuming desire to come to a complete grasp of the foundations of our faith.

Psalm 82:1-4

July 06, 2011

Psalm 82:1-4

A Psalm of Asaph. God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: "How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. (4) Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Lord, as I shepherd the church within the prison, give me wisdom and discernment. Give me wisdom to know when I am being snowed, and when it is a genuine cry for mercy and help. Be with me Lord, in all things, bless these men through me.

1 Timothy 3:1-13

July 05, 2011

1 Timothy 3:1-13
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

Lord, this is an awesome charge describing the walk that You require of someone who is given the task of leading a portion of Your flock. And I believe that You have given me such a responsibility to the small band of believers in the prison. Guide me and lead me, I cannot be faithful to these conditions without being obedient to Your word.
