Psalm 81:13-16

July 04, 2011

Psalm 81:13-16

Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes. Those who hate the LORD would cringe toward him, and their fate would last forever. But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you."

Lord, I stray from Your commands. Many are the times that I ignore that still, small voice that seeks to direct me in a path pleasing to You. Why is it for I know that with You, in Your will, is the very finest of lives; a life nourished by the Bread of the Word and sweetness of Shalom. Lord, I repent, change my heart O God, make it ever new, let it be like You.

Psalm 119:66

July 03, 2011

Psalm 119:66

Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

How do I know how to apply Your commandments except through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Any other approach is simply a legalistic application of the letter of the law and without love. But as the Spirit guides and instructs, then Your Law blooms into a fragrant sacrifice of love and devotion to You. It becomes a rich source of inspiration to demonstrate my love for You and the transforming power of Your love for me.

Psalm 81:8-12

July 02, 2011

Psalm 81:8-12

Hear, O my people, while I admonish you! O Israel, if you would but listen to me! There shall be no strange god among you; you shall not bow down to a foreign god. I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. "But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over -to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.

Lord, keep me attentive to Your word, heeding every instruction, avoiding every strange god, Without You, without the Holy Spirit, I continue to be a willful and stubborn man;

I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;

No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r when Thou art nigh.

I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son.

Psalm 81:6-7

July 01, 2011

Psalm 81:6-7

I hear a language I had not known: "I relieved your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket. In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

“Come to Me, all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” What a promise, Lord, what a promise. The only problem is that I forget to come. I keep struggling on my own, trying to lift a Sisyphean load and it never gets lifted. When will I learn to call on You at the very outset of a trial or test? Help me, Lord to remember to come, only come.

Psalm 81:1-5

June 30, 2011

Psalm 81:1-5

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. Of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength; shout for joy to the God of Jacob! Raise a song; sound the tambourine, the sweet lyre with the harp. Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day. For it is a statute for Israel, a rule of the God of Jacob. He made it a decree in Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt.

LORD God Almighty, the one true living God. You are righteousness, peace, love, light, mercy, grace, forgiveness, holiness, beauty, goodness, purity, and justice. You are the Creator of all, Father to all and Savior for all. You are the All Knowing, the All Powerful, the All Present. You are beyond time and space, both all transcendent and all immanent, yet God come to live among us as the Son of Man.

You are God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. You are LORD.

Revelations 3:12-1

June 29, 2011

Revelations 3:12-17

The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.

Lord, I am a Laodicean, weak, lukewarm, a don't rock the boater. Where is my fervor, my zeal, my compulsion to tell all what a great God I serve? Light my fire, let my candle blaze however briefly but brightly. That all should see and recognize that You have worked a power in my life that cannot be described in any way except through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 80:14-19

June 28, 2011

Psalm 80:14-19

Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine, the stock that your right hand planted, and for the son whom you made strong for yourself. They have burned it with fire; they have cut it down; may they perish at the rebuke of your face! But let your hand be on the man of your right hand, the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself! Then we shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name! Restore us, O LORD God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!

Build Your Church, fill it with the Fire of the Holy Spirit, send earthquakes of renewed passion for the Word, cause eruptions of preaching the Message of the Love of God, send tsunamis of Love of Neighbor sweeping through our towns and villages, send Your Church out to be the blessing of Abraham as You promised so long ago. Amen

Psalm 80:8-13

June 27, 2011

Psalm 80:8-13

You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land. The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. It sent out its branches to the sea and its shoots to the River. Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit? The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it.

Revivals have swept through Your church in the past, laying low the sins and failures of Your people, raising up the glories of Your name and Your great deeds among the children of men. Again, Lord, again. Bring revival now to the Church, sweep it clean of all the false idols and restore Your name among all the nations.

Psalm 119:59

June 26, 2011

Psalm 119:59

When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies;

Thank You, Lord, for the gift of the Law that enables me to see the errors of my ways and directs me to Your testimonies for guidance and restoration. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of my heart to Your Law and who guides me into its interpretation and application.

Psalm 80:4-7

June 25, 2011

Psalm 80:4-7

O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?  You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in full measure. You make us an object of contention for our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.  Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved!

Drive us to our knees, Lord, on our faces before You. What does it take to bring abject repentance to Your Church. We have sinned and we continue to sin. We have forsaken our first love, we have deserted the One who purchased us with His own blood. Fill us with remorse and shame.

Restore us, O God of hosts; let Your face shine, that we might be saved.

Psalm 80:1-3

June 24, 2011

Psalm 80:1-3

To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. A Testimony. Of Asaph, a Psalm. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock! You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth. Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might and come to save us! Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!

Lord, Your Church needs to be stirred up; it needs to face persecution; it needs to be called to repentance; it needs to see that it has acquired the veneer of the culture and allowed that veneer to dull its communion with You. Restore us, O God; let Your face shine that we may be saved.

1 Corinthians 4:1-9

June 23, 2011

1 Corinthians 4:1-9

This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God. I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.

Lord, Your church has deserted its first love, its fire has gone cold and only a few embers burning with grateful hearts. Please, please restore us, O God,let Your face shine that we might be saved.
