Psalm 70:5

April 23, 2011

Psalm 70:5

But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay!

Lord, I believe that I am being sent to the lost, the least and the lonely within the Vermont prison system. And that I am being sent to minister to the lost, the least and the lonely among Your shepherds. Specifically, I am sent to those who know You but need to be encouraged and equipped for the calling that You have placed upon them, to assist them in going out into their mission fields. Am I on the right Track, walking along the Way?

Psalm 70:4

April 22, 2011

Psalm 70:4

May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, "God is great!"

Let all the saints rise up in praise and magnify Your name today. Let the hills resound as they echo, "God is great!" Let it start with me, let me be the infectious one who spreads the joy; a virus of elation. God is Great! Hallelujah! Amen!

Psalm 70:1-3

April 21, 2011

Psalm 70:1-3

To the choirmaster. Of David, for the memorial offering. Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O LORD, make haste to help me! Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life! Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt! Let them turn back because of their shame who say, "Aha, Aha!"

Who are my enemies? Who are those that seek my life? Those who delight in my hurt? Not people but the sly minions of the Evil One seeking to separate me for Your Presence. All those foul affections, packaged as beautifully presented lures that offer pleasure and excitement but lead to the death of the spirit. Make haste, O God, to deliver me. I am defenseless in my own strength and knowledge.

Revelation 2:8-11

April 20, 2011

Revelation 2:8-11

"And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: 'The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life. "'I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.'

Lord, You were faithful unto death and I have life. Now, will I be faithful likewise? Will I hear what the Spirit has to say to me and through me to the Church? Will I conquer the old man that fears death? Will rivers of living water flow out of me for the salvation of all who hear the Word? Help me and guide me, Lord.

Psalm 69:29-36

April 19, 2011

Psalm 69:29-36

But I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, set me on high! I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. This will please the LORD more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs. When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive. For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them. For God will save Zion and build up the cities of Judah, and people shall dwell there and possess it; the offspring of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it.

Your salvation has set me on high, I am filled with Your peace and joy; my afflictions are as vapors and mists in a breeze, You have heard my prayer. But, Lord, there are those near and dear to me, suffering from physical and emotional distress, who also love and adore You, and need release from their burdens. Despise not those dear saints, release them from their bondages of pain, confusion and loss. Bless my dear brothers and sisters on this Day.

Psalm 69:22-28

April 18, 2011

Psalm 69:22-28

Let their own table before them become a snare; and when they are at peace, let it become a trap. (23) Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually. (24) Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your burning anger overtake them. (25) May their camp be a desolation; let no one dwell in their tents. (26) For they persecute him whom you have struck down, and they recount the pain of those you have wounded. (27) Add to them punishment upon punishment; may they have no acquittal from you. (28) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; let them not be enrolled among the righteous.

You do deal with my adversaries, whether spirit or human. Even when it is the old man rising up within me in his death throes, You are with me to comfort, protect and lead. It is Your strength, Your power that keeps me safe; it is not my own. You have removed the stain from my soul. Thank You, Lord.

Psalm 119:151-152

April 17, 2011

Psalm 119:151-152

But you are near, O LORD, and all your commandments are true. Long have I known from your testimonies that you have founded them forever.

Your commandments are true, and true forever. You have founded them and founded them forever. True yesterday, true today, true tomorrow, true forever. An immovable, unchangeable, inflexible, standard of righteousness and perfection.

Psalm 69:19-21

April 16, 2011

Psalm 69:19-21

You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor; my foes are all known to you. (20) Reproaches have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none. (21) They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink.

How can I lament my trials when I meditate on Your suffering for my sake? Bruised and beaten, scorned and scourged, afflicted and assaulted, denied and deserted, humiliated in the eyes of all who passed by Golgotha that fateful day. All to bear my sins, to take my willfulness upon Your self and present me as whole, pure and acceptable to God Almighty. Praise You, Lord.

Psalm 69:13-18

April 15, 2011

Psalm 69:13-18

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O LORD. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness. Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters. Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me. Answer me, O LORD, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me. Hide not your face from your servant; for I am in distress; make haste to answer me. Draw near to my soul, redeem me; ransom me because of my enemies!

Lord, Your obedience was to death on the cross, mine is to Your word yet I am often unable to follow Your leading. How can I be obedient to the Word unless You deliver me from my own sin and self-will? Your steadfast love, Your abundant mercy, Your boundless grace, all must continue to be present to me or I fall into the sinking mire or drown in the deep waters. Draw near to me and give me refuge from my self.

Psalm 69:5-12

April 14, 2011

Psalm 69:5-12

O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you. Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel. For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face. I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother's sons. For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach. When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them. I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.

You have lifted me out of the morass of sin and despair, filling me with hope, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit, guiding my footsteps along the King's Highway. You know my innermost sin and have cleansed me. You saw me in my filthy rags of self-righteousness and provided the robes of Your righteousness. You have set me at Your right hand and named me Ambassador of Reconciliation, an ambassador plenipotentiary. All through and by You, not of my own strength lest I should boast.

Praise You, Lord Jesus the Christ.

Psalm 69:1-4

April 13, 2011

Psalm 69:1-4

To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. Of David. Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, those who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore?

Lord, I was lost, deep in sin and You came to me with open arms, an offer of grace and mercy, reaching out to pull me away from the self-destructive path. You set me free, You washed the filth, removed that stains and gave me Your Spirit as teacher and mentor. You are truly the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Matthew 27:32-50

April 12, 2011

Matthew 27:32-50

As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross. (33) And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), (34) they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. (35) And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots. (36) Then they sat down and kept watch over him there. (37) And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews." (38) Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left. (39) And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads (40) and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross." (41) So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, (42) "He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. (43) He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, 'I am the Son of God.'" (44) And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way. (45) Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. (46) And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (47) And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, "This man is calling Elijah." (48) And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. (49) But the others said, "Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him." (50) And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

The most mournful cry in all the universe, that the One who knew Yahweh should be forsaken by Him. And so that I might know Yahweh and His son, Jesus the Christ whom He sent. Praise You, Lord Jesus, for You love me unto, through and beyond death. Praise You in the Highest, praise You to the children of men, praise You in all that I do and wherever I go. Let all my life be a hymn of praise.
