Psalm 73:10-14

December 23, 2013

Therefore his people return to this place, And waters of abundance are drunk by them. They say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High?" Behold, these are the wicked; And always at ease, they have increased in wealth. Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence; For I have been stricken all day long And chastened every morning.

How many will hear that awful statement, “I never knew you”? Praise You that I have received the seal of the Holy Spirit, my guarantee of transformation.

Psalm 119:9-16

December 22, 2013

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With m.y whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes! With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

By guarding, by seeking, by not wandering, by storing, by rejecting sin, by learning, by declaring, by delighting, by meditating, by being steadfast in the word, and by remembering. In short, by being totally adsorbed into the relationship with You.

Lord, give me peace this morning to get through this MRI! Remove any sense of claustrophobia and fill my heart, mind and soul with Your praises. Let Your peace pervade my being. Thank You and praise You.  (This was written several years ago anf the prayer was answered--I was at peace during the entire procedure  john)

Psalm 73:4-9

December 21, 2013

For there are no pains in their death, And their body is fat. They are not in trouble as other men, Nor are they plagued like mankind. Therefore pride is their necklace; The garment of violence covers them. Their eye bulges from fatness; The imaginations of their heart run riot. They mock and wickedly speak of oppression; They speak from on high. They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue parades through the earth.

As I watch our government blatantly pursuing policies that are restricting expressions of Biblical truth, I have to wonder how much longer You will tolerate the wickedness of this society. Not only the secular society, but those who claim to know You.

Psalm 73:1-3

December 20, 2013

A Psalm of Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, To those who are pure in heart! But as for me, my feet came close to stumbling, My steps had almost slipped. For I was envious of the arrogant As I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Yes, Lord, there are many times when covetousness consumes me. I begin to think about how satisfying it would be to have … or how enjoyable it would be to … or … But I have never learned that the coveted fruit never satisfies, the gadget of my dreams comes with a whiff of burning sulfur. You are the only One who totally and purely satisfies.

1 Corinthians 10:6-13

December 19, 2013

1 Corinthians 10:6-13

Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, "THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY." Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Temptation on the right, temptation on the left, above and below, ahead and behind—what to do, how to resist? Hallelujah, God is faithful!
