Psalm 63:6-8

September 30, 2013

[W]hen I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

Never failing, never lacking, always present, always sufficient. From the watches of the night to the heat of the mid-day sun, I can cling to You and find succor in the shadow of Your wings.

Psalm 119:91

September 29, 2013

By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants.

All things, not only under Your feet but to serve You. Even to the rewarding of Nebuchadnezzar for his labor in destroying Tyre by awarding him Egypt (Ezk. 29-18-20); is this not a demonstration that all things serve You?

Psalm 63:3-5

September 28, 2013

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,

Lord, an elegant meal of well prepared food and wine by the finest of chefs quickly fades and hunger returns. But You are that richness that is never too much, always satisfies yet never cloys. You bring praises to my lips and songs of thanksgiving.

Psalm 63:1-2

September 27, 2013

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Fill me that thirst for You, for Your Word, that never slaking passion to live in the glory of Your Presence. You are the Living Water that always satisfies but leaves those who are Yours with a desire for more.

Colossians 1:9-12

September 26, 2013

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Lord, I cannot walk in a way that is pleasing to You in my own strength and wisdom. But as I become more dependent upon You, I find that it is Your strength, Your wisdom that guides me into good works that bears fruit, much fruit for You.

Psalm 62:11-12

September 25, 2013

Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.

I recognize, Lord, that you will judge my works, not my sin for that is forgiven, but those works that You have assigned to me from before the beginning of time. Have I been a faithful servant and invested those talents that You gave me in order to bering glory and honor to your Name? Or have I been like the unfailful servant and buried my talents in the ground? Only You can judge.

Psalm 62:9-10

September 24, 2013

Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

I cannot trust the promises of any man. There is none righteous, no not one. I must be a Berean and check the word of every man against the Word of God

Psalm 62:8

September 23, 2013

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

There are no circumstances in which I should not trust You to be my guide and protector. There frequently are those challenges that I rely on my own weakness and pride to resolve, but I sin greatly when I do so.

Psalm 119:82

September 22, 2013

My eyes long for your promise; I ask, "When will you comfort me?"

The comfort I seek, Lord, is the salvation of my children and grandchildren. The problem is that I am tongue-tied, unable to speak. Help me, Lord, give me backbone and courage.

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

You alone, the only source of strength and wisdom, the One I must strive to wait for and wait upon.

Psalm 62:3-4

September 20, 2013

How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah

Lord, prop up this leaning wall, this tottering fence. I can no more fix myself than my split rail fence can replace the post or two that will need to be done in the spring. Thank You for the gift of the Comforter who guides me into all truth.

Psalm 62:1-2

September 19, 2013

To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.

Lord, challenging situations, tests and trials become opportunities to improve my faith. Am I really waiting waiting on You or is my patience just a sham and a show to impress others with the depth of my 'religion?' Continue, my Lord and Master, to lead me into a life of total faith in You and trust in Your promises.
