In Christ's household, we're all priests.
1 Samuel 2.35
“Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.”
Eli’s sons were not faithful priests. They robbed God, corrupted the worship of the Lord, made the people sin by giving corrupt offerings, and transgressed the Law of God. God would strike them down because they did not know Him and so abused the office of priest.
The prophet promised a faithful priest would arise, and since we as followers of Christ are a royal priesthood, we should take these attributes as our own - to know and do the heart and mind (soul) of God, and to walk before His Anointed all the days of our lives. God will prosper such a priest with a “sure house”, that is, a ministry grounded in truth and bearing the fruit of it.
