Valentine Villanelle

A Valentine's poem from Susie Moore.

Valentine Villanelle

I think I knew right from the start
A tenderness for you I'd feel
As through the years you'd melt my heart.

We'd grown up styles and miles apart.
For you, your self was sure and real,
I think I knew right from the start.

For me, my self lacked sense and art;
Your arms drew me with such appeal
As through the years you'd melt my heart.

For us, our selves we had to chart
A full-course life, a feast, a meal -
I think I knew right from the start.

Our path, our peace, our place, our part -
Before our GOD in prayer we'd kneel,
As through the years He'd meld our hearts.

When Valentine's sharp-shot marked dart
Flew fast, hit hard, without ordeal,
I think I knew right from the start
That through the years you'd melt my heart.
