Great is Thy Faithfulness

Dale Tedder

Sunday Morning Devotion: Week 24

Thank you for joining me today as we reflect on one of the Church’s most enduring hymns of praise and testimony. May your heart be stirred to worship and your faith deepened as we explore the richness of God’s redeeming grace.

Opening Prayer

Faithful Father, we come before you today with gratitude and awe. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Your mercies are new every morning, and your compassions never fail. As we reflect on your faithfulness through the words of this beloved hymn, help us to rest in your promises, rejoice in your provision, and walk in renewed trust. May your Spirit speak to our hearts and strengthen our faith. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Great is Thy Faithfulness
By Thomas O. Chisholm

Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness,
Great is thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hast provided;
Great is thy faithfulness,
Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love. [Refrain]

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine and ten thousand beside. [Refrain]

Key Principles from this Hymn

  1. God’s character is unchanging. His faithfulness, mercy, and love remain constant in every season.
  2. All of creation testifies to God’s dependability. Nature itself reflects the order and beauty of the Creator’s steadfast hand.
  3. God provides daily grace and enduring hope. We’re given pardon, presence, and strength each day, and a sure hope for tomorrow.
