Our readings in this series are from the book, What in Heaven Is Jesus Doing on Earth? Much of the work Jesus is doing in heaven He is doing through and in His people. Here’s an excerpt from pages 25 and 26:
For we are called to be His witnesses.
His Spirit is the power we need, and He
is ready both to give us words and be
at work within us every moment. His
agenda is to live through us, that we
might seek God’s Kingdom, growing daily in
its presence, power, and promise; hating sin
and living for the Savior, such that He
increases in us daily. We begin
to know Him working in us as we see
our world as Jesus does, and seek to be
Him in our place and sphere, that He might win
more people to Himself. Each step that we
essay beyond our comfort zone excites
the Holy Spirit in us, and ignites
the fire of faith, enabling us to be
ambassadors for Christ. We set our sights
to see Christ’s Kingdom making progress through
our words and deeds, and bringing blessings to
the people in our world. Our days and nights
are dedicated all to Him. We do
whatever is before us so that we
might bring Him glory, that the world might see
that Jesus lives, and know that what is due
Him is our lives, and all that we might be
or might become, for all eternity.
Questions for Reflection or Discussion
1. What does our being witnesses for Jesus have to do with His Kingdom coming on earth as it is in heaven?
2. Do we really believe that all our days and nights should be dedicated to the Lord? In everything we do? Why or why not?
Jesus has given us His Spirit so that we might have power to be His witnesses. We will know Him at work within us, from His throne in heaven, as we live and speak for Him throughout each day.
