Back to the Ancient Paths

Our readings in this series are from the book, The Church Captive. Here is a brief excerpt from page 9:

“Paul’s challenge to church leaders today is to examine the condition of our own churches, to determine whether we have become ensnared and taken captive by affections that are keeping us from realizing more of the Presence, promise, and power of Christ and His Kingdom, and, to the extent that this is so, to come to our senses and return to the Lord and His plan for our communities.

“By looking to our forebears in the faith, and the struggles of heart they endured, we may gain a better understanding of the conditions of captivity, and be able to determine the extent to which any of these are present in our churches today. And by listening to the voices of our contemporaries—who, like Paul with the Corinthians, are calling us to examine ourselves—we may see our way to rediscover ancient paths and more Biblical visions to guide us into the greater freedom of our great salvation and the eternal Kingdom of Christ.”

We’re happy to let you know that, beginning March 1 and for a limited time, you can order The Church Captive together with the next book in our Read Moore series, Revived!, at no cost. Order copies for yourself and for a study group or companion. Watch this space for additional information and to download a free discussion guide for both books.
