“What we glimpse in Acts 4.23-47 is a microcosm of what happened throughout the book of Acts and for the next two centuries. Believers, indwelled by the Holy Spirit and eager to know His power as witnesses for Jesus, sought the Spirit together in prayer, guided by the psalms, to ignite, sustain, and advance their calling to the Kingdom and glory of God. This is God’s New Normal. It’s not That Was Then. And it’s not what most of us experience as Here and Now, either.
“Yet throughout the centuries of Christian history, God’s New Normal has broken out and flourished from time to time, wherever believers, realizing the need, have sought revival in prayer.
“That same experience is waiting for the next generation of those who will take God at His Word, seek God by His Word, and implore God to remember and fulfill His Word, by His Spirit, in and through His Church, to revive His people, renew His churches, and awaken the world to the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
