The Kingdom Turn

It’s possible that many Christians don’t quite understand what it means to be citizens of the Kingdom of God. We need to make sure that we do. Today’s excerpt from The Kingdom Turn is from pages 22 and 23:

“To make the Kingdom turn is thus to enter an entirely new path in life, a path that redirects and transforms everything about who we are, what we do, and how we live. It is to embrace a new economy, navigate by a new North Star, and discover a new significance and purpose for every moment and detail of our lives. In the Kingdom of God, Jesus Christ is making all things new, unto the glory of God the Father. All our relationships, roles, and responsibilities take on a new focus as we adopt the disciplines of Kingdom citizenship and pursue our callings as Kingdom ambassadors. Every situation, every calling and condition of life, is an arena for making all things new and proclaiming, by our lives and words, the Good News of a Kingdom not of this world, bringing a power from beyond this world, for the purpose of redeeming and transforming everything in this world according to the pleasure and purpose of God.

“Within the Kingdom turn our perspective on life becomes radically different and new. Our passions and priorities line up increasingly with God and His Word, according to the prospects for Kingdom living He holds out to us. Our pursuits in life, and all our daily practices, begin to be defined by our citizenship and calling in the Kingdom of God, so that grace and truth flow from us to refresh and renew our world. And our constant prayer is that this Kingdom experience might increase daily, so that we know more of the presence, promise, and power of the Kingdom in every area of our lives.

“Have you made the Kingdom turn? Really made it? And, having made it, are you following Jesus along the path of His Law and Word into Kingdom greatness and glory?”
