Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two will become one flesh." But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality.
How can one joined to the Lord be trapped by sexual perversion? Only by not believing/trusting/committing/obeying the Lord. Those of us who have been so entrapped have escaped only by totally trusting in the Holy Spirit to extract us from our sin.
I can desire to flee but the power to do so comes from the Lord. It is an ongoing battle; Satan is a master of the sneak attack, frequently blindsiding his victims. But the Lord stands with us, providing that two-handed Sword of Psalm 149:6 to fight off temptation.
