1 Timothy 4:7-9

John Nunnikhoven

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance.

This is a priority setting Scripture. My Godly training, i.e. Spiritual disciplines, must take first place in my life. I cannot expect the Spirit to lead and teach me when I put Him somewhere on my roundtuit list.

I need to take special heed of those instances where Paul emphasizes a teaching with the phrase, a trustworthy saying.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 134

Mid-day: 119:49-56

Evening: Psalm 59
