A Psalm of David The Servant of the LORD, Who Spoke to the LORD The Words of This Song on the Day that the LORD Delivered Him from the Hand of All His Enemies and from the Hand of Saul. And He Said: I will love You, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
We are going to be here for a few days, the subtitle, “The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress” sums up the 50 verses. A very rich vein to be mined.
The last sentence is very telling and revealing of the course this Psalm will take. David recognizes that the LORD is worthy to be praised and in that fact lies the solution to all of David's problems. In other words, the LORD is without failure or shortcoming. He both can and will meet all of David's needs. When the LORD said, I will love you, it is an all inclusive love, no exceptions or exclusions. The LORD, God, the Almighty is his strength, his rock, his fortress, his deliverer, his trust, his shield, his salvation, horn of his salvation and his stronghold; the One who is worthy to be praised!
Shouldn't I be on my knees tonight, joining David crying, “You are the One who is Worthy to be Praised, in You, oh, LORD, I will put my trust.”
