Creational Theology Hint
There is a geranium plant, just a few feet from where I am sitting, very large and imposing, with several buds forming. We have lost track of when and where the original plant comes from; I'm sure this represents generations of cuttings rooted and planted. But I do know that when these buds begin to open that they will be a delicate pink. They were pink at the last cycle of blooms, and the one before and the one before and ad finitum. There is constancy, predictability, a "the same yesterday, today and tomorrow" that assures me that the LORD, God, the Almighty is in control. Another part of the Creation showing me that His promises are sure.
John 12:42-43
Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
The question here that must be faced is whether or not I love the glory of man more than the glory of God. It is easy to say that I love the glory of God, but does my actions and does my conversation with friends, family and acquaintances belie that claim? Isn't today's “being put out of the synagogue” the fear of being the object of derision and ridicule at family gatherings or not being invited to neighborhood picnics? Is not the craving of the acceptance of my family far more important to me than to bask in the glory of God? My belief is flawed.
Forgive me, Lord, for my cowardliness. Fill me with boldness to declare Your grace and mercy everywhere and at all times.
