John 3:16

John Nunnikhoven

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

A leading candidate for the best known verse in the Bible and probably should be a candidate for the least understood. I lived for years with a head knowledge belief. It was not a belief that affected my life–I continued to live according to my own wants and desires. I was good at blaming God when things did not go well, in my estimation, and accepting the credit when they did.

But as Dallas Willard often asked, "Are you trusting God for your next sandwich?" Do I believe that the LORD, God the Almighty, orders every aspect of my life or do I have a Plan B if the sandwich does not materialize? Do I know (internally, completely, in the very nether regions of my being) that the Lord has promised and will provide everything I need?
