And he said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
Aren't we still slow of heart to believe, really, truly, believing, trusting, having faith, committing, obeying? Sure, that Christian stuff is nice, I'm all for love, but don't ask me to give any of the innocent little pastimes and passions that I enjoy so much. A little porn—harmless, no victim. Yes, my language is a little coarse—I'm not really using God's name in vain, it's just an expression. What do you mean to trust Him in all things, well how about the big stuff like world peace? I'll take care the little stuff—no need to bother a busy god.
