Matthew 27:45-46

John Nunnikhoven

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. (46) And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

That awful cry, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” The recognition that He, the Son of the LORD God Almighty was in a state of complete separation, banished to outer darkness, for my sake, because of my sin; incomprehensible to me for I knew only separation. Praise You, my Lord and Master, for You by Your death restored me and cleansed me; You brought me into the Kingdom of God and set me as a child of the Most High.
