Psalm 146:1-4

John Nunnikhoven

Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul! I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

It is so easy and so convenient, Lord, to put my trust in the promises of man. They abound and they are so prevalent. The Evil One bombards all my senses with extravagantly packaged promises of wealth and happiness, but the underlying stench wafts, barely hidden by the glitter. Your promises are true and complete, without hidden traps. You are light, You are truth, You cannot lie, You are forever. I can trust You without reservation.
