Psalm 22:1-2 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

John Nunnikhoven

Psalm 22:1-2

To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? (2) O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.

Lord, I cannot comprehend the depth and agony of Your separation from the Father. There is nothing in my life that gives me any clue to understanding this. I can accept it, I can believe it, I can act upon the truth of it but I cannot understand it. And while You love me, it was obedience to Your Father’s will that brought You here. Cost was not a consideration.

And so for me, lesson 1 is that I must be obedient to the Father’s will and to Yours. Cost is not a consideration. I must dedicate my all to You.

Voices Together is also available in a weekly formats suitable for distribution within prisons and for insertion into church bulletins at this location.
