Psalm 81:6-7

John Nunnikhoven

Psalm 81:6-7

I hear a language I had not known: “I relieved your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket. In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

“Come to Me, all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” What a promise, Lord, what a promise. The only problem is that I forget to come. I keep struggling on my own, trying to lift a Sisyphean load and it never gets lifted. When will I learn to call on You at the very outset of a trial or test? Help me, Lord to remember to come, only come.
