Psalms 119:17-24

John Nunnikhoven

Deal bountifully with Your servant, ThatI may live and keep Your word.

Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.

I ama stranger in the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me.

My soul breaks with longing For Your judgments at all times.

You rebuke the proud—the cursed, Who stray from Your commandments.

Remove from me reproach and contempt, For I have kept Your testimonies.

Princes also sit andspeak against me, ButYour servant meditates on Your statutes.

Your testimonies also aremy delight Andmy counselors.

I had the opportunity to watch a very well organized team perform, literally a situation where a life was at stake(mine). An occasion of beauty as each knew their function and responsibilities. No debates regarding whose function was whose; no bickering, no oops. What a difference when compared to the way we Christens aproach the task of spreading the Kingdom of Heaven in the here and now. Yet our marching orders are succinctly defined in the Word of God.

Look at that second line (v 18) and think about the Wondrous thing that is embedded in and revealed in the Law of God. A life of consistency and perfection, as exemplified and made possible by the sacrifice and life of our Lord Jesus Christ. Simultaneously, the Lamb of God and the Personification of the LORD, God, the Almighty.

Listen and obey, John. You will be part of that team if you study and obey
