Psalms 49:5-6

John Nunnikhoven

Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me,  who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?

It is so easy to get all bent out of shape when someone cheats or otherwise takes advantage of me, especially when someone returns an evil for a kindness that I have done for them. So easy for me to forget that I am called to display, in small measure, the kindness that my Lord Jesus showed to me on the cross. He died that I might live. I am called to minister a glass of cold water to someone who reviles me and my LORD.

Today's readings in the Psalms:

Morning: Psalm 35

Mid-day: 119:161-168

Evening: Psalm 110
