Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?
There is a very interesting and significant thought buried in this passage. It is the recognition of the Psalmist that not only is praise powerful in life, it will be impossible in Hell.
This thought is carried in other Psalms, (c.f. 30:9,115:17). It hammers home to me the absolute importance of making praise an integral part of my life. Will those poor lost souls be aware of the absolute perfection of the Lord, God the Almighty but unable to praise Him? I believe the answer is yes. I must not let any opportunity to praise Him slip through my fingers–it is a blessing that is beyond my ability to fully comprehend.
Today's readings in the Psalms:
