What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness." Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work butbelieves in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
I worked, from the time I was 12 until 66, always for a wage, sometimes meager and sometimes sumptuous, but always for a wage. The wage was immediate compensation for my labors. And most of the time, I felt that my labor was at least worth the compensation I received.
Now, as a servant of the Most High, my labors can never, ever be worth the compensation I receive. They are totally offered to my King in gratitude for the great gift I have received, to be in His presence for eternity. But I can offer my faith, my trust, my commitment , my obedience as a a token of my love for Him. That offering is a" living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is myspiritual worship". Romans 12;1
